elstreif - how about those Apple apps. Does the Movie App work?
When I turn on the Apple TV I will go in to the movie section and it sit there saying connecting to iTunes. If I go into the hbo go tab same. Same for espn. Same for te news. But YouTube does work. Music works. TV tab just sit there connecting to iTunes.
This does not sound like a native PlexConnect issue, does it?
Does the same happen when connecting directly, without the DNS set to your local machine?
Also, does the PlexConnect log show ANY activity after the aTV wakeup?

ok so i just woke up the apple tv 2 upstairs. movies, tv, trailers, and everything else worked. just plexconnect did not. here the log. keep in mind i am now using crunchyroll. but this problem was there before.

That is different to your last statement. Right?
The log (ever seen the "attach" button?) shows, that PlexConnect is active, serving eg. .../metadata/71838, .../sections/9, .../sections/10 from PMS. What exactly is the issue?
Could this be a firewall/NAT issue? I have an AirPort Extreme but I didn’t open any ports for PlexConnect.
Another observation. If I force the AppleTV to sleep for a minute or two and then wake it, PlexConnect works fine. It seems as if the ATV has to be asleep for awhile before the problem arises. Is there some sort of idle timeout thing happening?

this happens to me too. if the ATV is asleep for a short time no problem getting plexconnect to work. but if asleep overnight it wont work the next day.

i am running an airprt extreme too

yes the last time nothing worked. this time the only thing that did not work is plexconnect. The exact problem is after the ATV sleeps for awhile plexconnect wont work when woken up. was only asleep for an hour and ahalf
Okay, so this only happens if the ATV is asleep for a longer period of time. Short sleeps don't trigger the problem. For me, restarting the ATV usually fixes the problem, though not always. And restarting the Mac running PlexConnect also fixes the problem.
Also, at least two of us seeing this issue have Airport Extremes (I have version 7.6.1 installed).
Is anyone with this problem using a different brand of router?

Airport Extreme (7.6.3 installed)
Apple Tv sleep for long peroid of times. plexconnect stop working. Hve to restart ATV to get it working again.
I have restarted plexconect and this did not fix my problem.
ok here is what i have done to see if this works. i set up map porting in the extreme.
public UDP ports 80
public TCP ports 80
Private IP Adress (the PMS)
Private UDP ports 80
Private TCP ports 80

Good to know that we can cross that off the list.

Admin edit: best guess - "Julia" is having other issues... original post deleted.
try some other things tomorrow
I have not had this exact problem but of late I have had an issue with home sharing not being accessible after the ATV went to sleep.
Internet and Plexconnect communication were still working but I could not access my iTunes content. I did not think this was a Plexconnect issue but a home network issue. I have a Speedstream wireless router attached by Ethernet to my iMac and a Netgear wifi extender connected to the home network wirelessly. All of my IPs are set as DHCP reservations in the router.
I solved my issue by rebooting my router and my extender as well as reconnecting the extender to the router manually through the latter’s web interface. Now home sharing works after the ATV wakes from sleep.
I don’t know if this helps but there are some parallels to the issues in this thread (sleep issues, network extenders, etc.)
In your Settings.cfg, do you have "enable_plexgdm" set to false or true? If set to "true", change it to "false", reboot PlexConnect, and test the ATV after a lengthy sleep. Be sure to have the IP address of the PMS entered in the Settings.cfg under "ip_pms".Airport Extreme (7.6.3 installed)

I changed mine to false and the Trailers app connected to PlexConnect without problem after sleeping for half a day. I'm going test it again after it's been asleep over night.

Thanks. I will try tonight.

What ip did you put under the ip_pms.. The one the machine has or the ip that in the address bar when you open pms.
It would be the ip of the computer running PMS.

Ok I tried it this morning before going to work but then could not get it to work. would not find anything. Of course i was in a rush trying to get to work. I will try again tonight. So you change the 198.172. ip to the ip of the machine. could you copy your file on here? then again i have been using crunchyroll. not sure if using trailers make a differences
