Plex Connect Performance

Background:  Originally, Plex Media Server, Plexconnect, and several other services were all running on a Synology DS1813+ with 4GB 22TB RAID6.  These services are currently being migrated from the Synology NAS to a VMware vSphere Essentials cluster.  Relocating Plex Media Server to a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine improved responsiveness of iOS clients and Webclients.  (Also, considerably reduced power consumption since vSphere hosting the services is running on two Intel NUCs allowing the NAS to hibernate the 8 drives.)

Problem: Plexconnect appears to hang installing certificates on the Apple TV3s, but the profile appears after returning to General.  Slow response waiting for trailers.  The configuration file has been modified to turn off GDM and manually set the PMS server address.  Plexconnect is running on the same virtual machine as PMS.  I initially thought Plexconnect would be more responsive on an i5 powered cluster than an Atom NAS.  Is this due to OS? Do firewall rules need to be created for 80 and 443? Is it better to separate Plexconnect from PMS? How can I get Plexconnect to be more responsive?

vSphere ESXi 5.5

Cluster Capacity: 9.0GHz 32GB RAM 22TB Storage

Virtual Machine: 2 vCPUs (Unlimited), 4GB RAM, SSD Datastore

Windows Server 2012 R2

Python 2.7.6-amd64

PyWin32-amd64-2.7

the performance is actually up to plex media server and not plexconnect, but it still should be better and very responsive with that kind of power :)

Check myplex login, there was a bug once but it should be fixed already. If youre logged in, log out and try again

How many files are we talking ? I've read somewhere that PlexConnect has to generate the HTML for the indexes, so if you have a large library, probably you need some specific setup.

Also, how often does PMS indexes your library ? During indexing the PlexConnect performance is really poor.

My library is manually refreshed.  Just over 200 movies and less than a 1000 songs.

It appears the delay was related to firewall rules in Windows Server 2012.  I added Python.exe rule for firewall-in instead of specifying ports.
