I’ve encountered a connection issue on iOS and iPadOS.
Even though I can connect to the Plex server successfully, whether locally or remotely, the Plex app or the Plex preview app always switches to offline mode after a few seconds.
And I can access my content on the server, but some online features do not work, such as checking the friend list or using the watch together function.
I’ve tried several things, but still can’t pinpoint the root cause.
Sorry, I think I have found the root cause.
The Plex app always checks a specific Google domain.
If it can’t connect to the domain, then the Plex app switches to offline mode.
I just wondering is this check really necessary?
I rarely use my iPad for Plex, but just did today. Mine is showing the Offline Mode, while I’m in the States. If the issue stems from the apps checking a Google site (as the user stated) then I’m screwed. My personal network blocks ALL Google access for security and privacy reasons. I’ll be confirming this issue shortly now that I have that clue. Should that be the case, then I just have lost some of my Plex Pass incentive. Plex should not talk about privacy and security while opening up users to all things Google.
