Note: Mark as Watched. Only counts it as 1 play. It seems like this is occurring when you actually watch the movie through, not marking something as watched.
@OttoKerner I take the above reply back. I just marked an Unwatched Movie as Watched using the Mark as Watched feature and it counted it as 2 plays.

I thought this was just the feature working, but I guess it just was for my specific scenario. I had an already in progress movie that I’ve already seen and I looked at how many plays it had, then I clicked Mark as Watched and it only incremented the counter by 1.
Yeah, the issue is occurring whether I watch it all the way through and or click Mark as Watched. Hopefully @OttoKerner can report this bug as I have no idea how to report myself. I have been using Plex for many years and just recently discovered this forum. lol
Thanks @gibit for making this post and bringing attention to this specific bug.
@OttoKerner Hey I just watched an unwatched movie last night and it counted it as 2 plays in the UI but only once in the View Play History. I think this bug is still persisting? Is this bug in the developer queue?
What is “the UI” for you?
When you sort your movies library by plays and it shows the play counts underneath the posters.
The play counters are incorrect and for every watch, the number of plays under the poster increments +2 instead of +1 despite the View Play History only showing you’ve watched it once.
I can attach screenshots when I’m at my server.
@OttoKerner This image is the play history; Shows 1 watch
If I sort my Movies library by Plays, it shows that same movie as 2 plays instead of 1 like the watch history shows.
I do see the same, here. Not sure, though, if it’s an issue of simply double-counting. I have a case where Plex shows 6 plays in the ‘sort by plays’ view, but only 5 plays in the watch history. I don’t see a pattern - most movies show accurate stats, only a few are incorrect.
