For seemingly no rhyme or reason my Plex server seems to freeze up and become unresponsive every couple days lately. The only way to recover is a sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver. I took a quick glance at the server logs around the time of the “crash” but not able to glean anything really useful. PMS runs as a virtual machine on Proxmox on Ubuntu 20.04.5 with 32GB of RAM, 8 cores with a Quadro P2000 passed through for transcoding. One line that sticks out is “INFO (pipeinterface:87) - Stopping plug-in”. I’ve attached logs dump. If there’s any other info I can give that might help please let me know. Thanks so much for any help you can lend.
Latest crash was 2022-12-24 15:33:46 according to my Uptime Kuma monitoring system.
Same here - started when I upgraded to plexmediaserver-plexpass-1.30.1.6497 (FreeBSD).
Seems to be somewhere in the process of scanning media, so I’ll try @Bazooka_Xp’s suggestion. Sucks that there’s no logs of interest. I found a few files that generated complaints, and removed them, yet the crashing continued. Last night’s was during the nightly scan.
Of note, anyone else seeing this might want to clean up after the crash - in my case I end up with a 5 or 6 DLNA server processes left behind and the same number of “Plex Script Host” processes. These aren’t killable without a signal 9.
edit: if anyone from plex is at all interested (lol), I have a core file for the server process…
I disabled the “analyze audio tracks” feature and manually kicked off a rescan of all media categories and the server has not yet crashed. Couldn’t find a way to manually run all the other daily maintenance tasks.
Yes that was the last time of the crash - but you captured the logs 7 hours later by which time, the main server log files have cycled round ! Logs are only covering period 21:30:43 to 22:54:17 when the crash was at at 15:33:04
There is an issue with music loudness analysis that will be fixed in version 1.30.2 - but i cannot say if it is related as there are no relevant log files to the crash
