Plex crashing on LG G5 2025 TV

Recently bought an LG 2025 G5 and having issues with Plex crashing. Seems to happen on all levels of resolution (720, 1080 and 4k) but not all files. Also seem to be different times, sometimes 20-30 minutes in, other times I can get 60-90 minutes.

Screen goes black for 10-20 seconds, then Plex app restarts. No errors displayed.

Can anyone help?

I have the same problem with my LG 2025 G5. It seems to be caused by two different things:

  1. Either the file has a large number of additional subtitles
  2. The audio track contains an Atmos layer. Tracks with normal Dolby Digital 5.1 will be played without any error.

That’s not the case for me, this is files with no subtitles and no Atmos.

I’ve had this with 720p files, with just AAC Stereo sound.

The number of subtitles is but one factor. Often it will crash even with one internal subtitle and not with an external.

I tried forcing DirectPlay which seems to get it through the subtitle and buffering issues but then DTS Audio won’t work…

My old LG B5 model that I had until recently had no issues.

There was a firmware update last night, I have heard it helps.
