Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: 6.4.9.6153-6d1b63c9b
Plex is cutting off videos about 2 to 3 minutes before the end. This seems to be an issue only when transcoding and when using Roku as a client. If you go back to where you were when it cut off and play again, it plays through to the end without problems. Can someone please help with this?
That option is not available on the Roku’s I have, which is a Roku TV and a Roku Streaming Stick (1080p). It’s only available on the 4k streaming devices. I’m not sure why that would cause an issue with videos cutting off early though. It’s not a judder or framerate issue, it’s just cutting videos off early. Also, like I said in the original post – it only happens when transcoding.
I can confirm this is happening on my TCL Roku TV as well, Plex app version is 6.4.9.6153. I think it might actually be a server issue though, because it wasn’t happening until I updated my server to the latest build (1.18.4.2171) earlier today. This is pretty bothersome, it’d be great to see a fix rolled out quickly
Yeah this seems to be an issue with either the current version of the Roku app or some communication issue between the server and the app. It might be an issue server side, I’m not sure. It definitely seems to only be an issue when transcoding. It’s not a consistent issue for me though, it only happens every now and then. I thought it might be something with the Autoplay option, but I turned that off and still had the issue. I hope this is the best place to post about it, because there doesn’t seem to be a direct way to contact Plex for support and it’s a frustrating issue.
Having this issue also. Sucks having to fast forward through 55 min to get the last few min of a show. I am experiencing it using direct play (Roku does transcoding) and when making the plex server do the transcoding
I posted an updated in another thread which resolved this issue at least for me – take a look and see if it helps your situation. So far I have NOT seen anything cut off before the end
I think automatic is the default value so Make my CPU hurt will likely be okay. Think the Transcoder default throttle buffer value at 15 is what makes most of benifit. If this was 60 beforehand then I’d be hopeful this will help you.
Gotcha. Ive manually set it down to 15 seconds already. But previously I’ve set it to 180 and the shows would cut off 5 minutes before the end of the show. Not sure if it is related, but its significantly diminished with time. I might test with a higher buffer size later.
This seems like more of a workaround rather than a true solution. No change to defaults should be necessary for the software to function properly. I think it would be nice to hear back from the developers on this one. I feel like an actual fix is required.
