I see lots of talk about the Plex Dance. When I click on a link it tells me the site is down or is private. Could someone please share with me what the Plex dance is and does? Also, how do you go about doing it. Or just a link that works. Thanks.
Hello, Plex has an official discussion for this on the link here
It’s basically a bit of software to remove cached metadata from a file. Its seems to be buggy at the moment tho with lots of users reporting issues.
The Plex Dance is a workaround for a bug that is, thankfully, in the process of being fixed. Keep in mind that it can be a destructive process if you’ve created Playlists, or custom edits. Say, for example, that you’ve added a song from a particular album to a Playlist. As you can see from the steps outlined above, the Dance removes the item from the library, which will automatically remove the track(s) from the Playlist. Custom edits you may have made (Sort name, Collections, etc.) in Plex are also lost. When you re-add the album to the library, you’ll have to manually re-add the track(s) to the Playlist, and re-do the custom edits.
