I just observed a user streaming audio content using the Plex Dash app on my iPhone. I was puzzled because after verifying with the user that her device was set to limit bandwidth over cellular connections, the Plex Dash app was nevertheless displaying the (much higher) bitrate of the source file. Unlike the server dashboard, which displays the bitrate of the current stream, I suspect that the Plex Dash iOS app displays the bitrate of the source file. In other words, if you observer a single stream in progress on the server dashboard and on the Plex Dash app for iOS, each will report a different bitrate value.
I suggest changing the behavior of the Plex Dash app to (at least give the option of) displaying the bitrate of the stream in progress. I would find this information more useful than simply reporting an attribute of the file on my server. I’m relatively new to Plex, so of course, please educate me / point me in the right direction if I have missed something.
Many thanks for the wonderful Dash app, and for considering my feedback!
