Hey folks. Nothing major and I saw an older post for the same issue from 2018/2019 but there weren’t any responses to it. I just put a movie on for my kids on one of the TVs, came into the bedroom and my wife is watching another TV show on our Plex. I sign into the server and notice the icon in the top right corner is not showing anyone connected or watching anything. Confirm (2) TVs are streaming and the bandwidth is showing decent usage that someone is watching stuff.
Was there an update or a setting that I unknowingly changed or applied that changed this? I’m not worried at the moment. Don’t know if its an issue or a bug.
Other sidebar questions:
Current: Windows 10 Pro - Plex: 1.20.2.3402
Is there any issue or will i lose performance to switching over to a headless ubuntu rack server (HP Proliant DL360/G7 24GB Ram)? I am considering putting it into a Docker or moving it onto my Synology NAS DS216j?
Is it possible for PMS to use LDAP for user authentication for my wife and kids at home? using LDAP on my Synology at the moment instead of using Active Directory or any domain stuff.
Wife was watching on our Roku Ultra using the Plex app, Daughter was watching on App from Samsung smart TV using the Plex app. My son watches from plex.tv website, since he says he refuses to pay for the app on his phone.
Normally, its not an issue, i can see from web interface or from the app on my phone every time someone starts watching something…
Do you keep that page open? Sometimes the browser doesn’t refresh the page correctly so it may show the wrong thing playing or even nothing playing. A page refresh should fix that.
If that’s not the case, the next time something is missing, please provide the log from PMS and let me know what show didn’t appear.
Nope. Don’t keep the page running. I tend to check it a few times throughout the day or when i see someone is watching a show or i get a notice on my phone someone is watching.
I This week I will try it on a few different devices and the same ones as last time and see if there is/was something to possibly trigger it and will of course give you as much details as I can.
Well here is some more random stuff. This time not as much bandwidth and is showing from local. Only folks in the house right now are my wife and kids. we were watching a movie, that was almost 30 minutes ago. and that was on our Roku
I signed back into Plex from the same device and resumed the movie and this is what shows up. Which is what I am/was expecting.
Your first image showing 8 kbps looks like just background. This could be 1 or more Plex devices just talking back to the server checking for new information, etc.
Next time you see Mbps of data with nothing playing, grab the PMS logs and post them.
