Recently in the morning i’ve noticed my harddrive showing activity. I check plex and see its detecting intros and credits on shows that have already been on the server for months if not years. This is also running hours after the scheduled task window of 1-7AM.
Those shows are then being added to the front of the recently added list on Home pushing back things that have actually been recently added.
What’s going on?
If you haven’t done so already, disable (uncheck, then save) this setting (in your Plex Media Server’s settings):
Settings → [Server Name] → Library → Empty trash automatically after every scan
This prevents a situation where PMS can, under certain circumstances, remove media items from its library database. When this occurs, when the items are rescanned they are considered to be new and consequently go through all the normal first-time analysis steps again. (And get added to the front of recently added.)
