This is extremely strange, but I launched Plex and noticed that on the Deck the recently added TV shows was made up alphabetically of every single show I have. The server also seems to be doing a full library scan and detecting intros for each of the shows.
It would also appear that some shows have had their played status reset, with them showing as never been played.
I can’t understand how this might have happened? Thankfully the Movies Library hasn’t been impacted.
I am not sure log I can provide to work out why the TV shows library has seemingly be rescanned as if it was an entirely fresh library?
This can e.g. happen if you have configured your server to automatically / periodically scan your libraries and to automatically empty its trash after every scan. If that combination collides with a drive that’s disconnected or takes too long to spin up, Plex will drop the items. Once they’re found again, Plex will consider those as new items.
To rule this out you can disable the automatic emptying of Plex’ trash: Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Empty trash automatically after every scan
Is there any specific log that might be able to tell me when this first happened. I have a backup of the Plex directory that I could try and restore, but i’d like to try an determine at what time this issue happened.
the Plex Media Server.log set of logs (incl. the numbered versions) could still show when the server last scanned your library – though if you’re doing that as a scheduled task, there might already have been a full cycle of backups / logs and you might be out of luck.
