If you are using Plex on Android TV (Shield Pro in my case), and you are logged in as a guest (so not logged into an account, just using guest locally), it locks you to “read only”. In other words, you cannot save your spot in a movie, cannot mark things as played, can not set default audio/subtitle tracks (it reverts back to defaults), etc. This has been going on FOR A YEAR. Can you please confirm that this will be fixed? This was admitted to be a bug by two of your development team members. If you do not plan on fixing it, can you just tell me so I can stop hoping for a fix?
Other thread I made months ago where I was told this issue was raised with the team:
I will keep following up on this post daily until someone from the Plex team either confirms that this is being worked on, or confirms that this is NOT being worked on.
Isn’t what you describe exactly what a guest account is designed for ?
I reference Creating a Plex Home | Plex Support and if you look at the tip in that document it seems designed to be an account which is separate to regular accounts.
Sounds like you want the functionality of a managed account but have it confused with guest.
No. You should still have access to these features. By “guest” I just mean that I’m not using a Plex account (so you have to sign in as guest instead of your account on the shield plex player). I have no plex account because I only use/need Plex locally on my network. Please see my linked forum post where multiple Plex devs admit that what I described is not the intended behavior. I also know this is not the intended behavior because I do NOT have this issue on my Roku device, only the Android. It is a problem specific to Android TV plex player.
