Plex Direct Play Stuttering Problem (I want to disable it, as my Android TV Box Xiaomi MI 4)

Dear all,

Apparently my Xiaomi Mi Box4 can’t handle the full HD format 22.3 Mbps allthough the Plex is Running on an NUC with TrueNAS Installed, so I’d like for the server to do the transcoding, as I don’t want to set the movie settings every time I’m watching it so it will play it without any Issues.

I’ve disabled Direct Play in the settings:

What should I change so it will play without stuttering?

My opinion is that the Direct Play (disabled) settings are not working… as soon as I choose the option “converty automatically” it works like a charm.

The lower screenshots are only applying to the Plex player in your web browser. They have nothing to do with the Android player.

Each Plex player has its own quality settings.
You should find the settings menu by pressing Left on the home page, until the focus shifts into the left side bar. Then you can either go all the way down to Settings, or all the way upwards to your username. After pressing OK, you should see a link to the Settings menu in there as well.

In the settings menu scroll down to video quality,
then select a lower bitrate number instead of maximum.
