Actually, ignore my Shield comments, that’s not connected to a DV capable TV…apols for confusion
Please prioritise this work and advise how we should store our DV content (mkv or mp4). I prefer the default Plex player to paying for Infuse as well.
My fire tv, fire cube and native on my LG C1 app all play hdr pink/green. The odd DV video seems to work though
That’s doubtful.
The pink/green only affects DV.
So I would love to see a media info for an HDR file that does that.

Some DV (currently 1 file) play OK rest are pink or green

It akinda works with the old player (no time to die works via direct stream but justice league doesn’t)
Looking forward to the update. Plex has been useless for me in terms of Dolby vision and 4k files support with Dolby vision enabled. (enabling it on my Apple TV also causes audio sync issues on my 2017 4Kmodel on non Dolby vision files including 1080p files). Had to use infuse but REALLY miss the plex player (as does my wife who cussed me out when I said we can’t use it anymore with the new tv lol)
Latest aTV release has patchnootes including:
“Improved compatibility with Dolby Vision video”
In case that was supposed to be the fix, it’s still not working here.

I think they said it would be a server update too. did you update PMS?
I am on the latest stable version.
I’m on the latest beta, and it still ain’t fixed. It’s infuriating.

Interesting, for me some of the DV files now play with the correct colors after the apple TV update, however some of the files wont play at all now. Instead of getting weird colors I simply get audio and the spinning wheel of death, but NO video at all.

Actually as I was typing this I realized what the commonality is. All mkv Dolby Vision files correctly play now. All mp4 based Dolby Vision files FAIL to play. They just end up with the spinning wheel with audio playing but NO video. Is this because mkv is remuxed to mp4 but mp4 is attempted to play straight through? Maybe there is some special way Plex server is muxing mkv->mp4 files that is different from the DV mp4 files I have? Although the mp4 files all play fine in Infuse.
I don’t know if others are seeing the same or not.

i am seeing bits of this as well but for me NOTHING is working (mp4 or mkv) just like it wasnt pre update.

There won’t be anything new regarding DV.
This releases is simply what TestFlight users have been running for the 2 and a half weeks.
Simply nothing to see here.
I do hope however this release means there will be a new TestFlight release soon.

Yeah. Even infuse broke DV in mkv on their latest TestFlight.
Other than that it will probably be around 2 years before Plex on tvOS catches up with Infuse performance wise.
Just a shame that Infuse has such an awful UI.

thats the problem, my wife HATES it compared to plex but since we bought a new 4k tv plex ios/tvos app just cant hang. i also have audio sync issues as well (which there is another giant thread about too) when i have 4k enabled on my Apple TV.

Thanks for the update.
Despite its failings UI wise my often dependence on using my AirPods for Spatial Audio means I mostly have to put up with Infuse.
When I can let the speakers let rip I tend to use Plex on my Shield anyway. (Purely for its DV friendliness)
I will try out Plex with the the enhanced player with some 4K remuxes in the morning. I don’t recall having issues on the past but to be fair that was a good while ago.
