Plex DLNA Server Memory Leak

Server Version#: 1.15.4.993
Player Version#: Firefox 68.0.1 but other clients are used as well. Smart TV’s, ROKU’s.

After a few days my Plex server, running on my QNAP NAS, uses up 1.8 G of memory. Normally it runs at no more than 250 M. The server has a max. of 3 G.

When this happens the clients show buffering. Under normal memory usage buffering does not occur.

The process that uses up the 1.8 G is the Plex DLNA Service.

For example, right now, there are 2 people watching different videos without problem. The server is only using about 175 M. The Plex DLNA Service is only using 46 M.

There appears to be a conditional memory leak problem within this service.

I have been dealing with this problem for a few years now and just restarting the server when the problem arises. But I have noticed that other people are reporting this problem. Hopefully, it will be resolved sometime soon as restarting the Plex server everytime this occurs is a bit of a nuisance.

Refresh

Would be nice the Plex team fixes this. It is lasting since several month (at least).
Looking at the size of the leak and the fact that it is 100% reproducible it shouldn’t be difficult to find the root cause.

Thanks upfront to the Plex team to look at this bug

Cheers

G.

Per the DLNA memory leak and finding the root cause,

respectfully,

if it were easy to find, it would have been fixed by now, true?

This is a known and well established issue.
