PLEX does no recognize the serie inside this folder

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with the naming of these directories:

Los Caballeros del Zodiaco [1]
Los Caballeros del Zodiaco [2]꞉ Saga de Hades
Los Caballeros del Zodiaco [3]꞉ Soul of Gold

Tokyo Ghoul [1]
Tokyo Ghoul [2]꞉ Tokyo Ghoul √A

They are directories that contains anime series.

The problem is that PLEX seems to ignore [2] and [3] folders. I mean, PLEX adds the serie ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ to my server, but it doesn’t add ‘Tokyo Ghoul √A’. Same for ‘Los caballeros del zodiaco’ (or ‘Saint Seiya’ in English) series, it adds the serie contained inside folder with name ‘Los Caballeros del Zodiaco [1]’, but it does not add the series contained in the other two folders with similar name.

And it should do the differentiation, because every one of those folders, like the other +100 folders that I have added and which PLEX did its job in the right way, they have all inside a .nfo file with a IMDB title id. But PLEX ignore those specific folders with [2] and [3] in its name, it only takes into account the folder with “[1]” in its name and the serie contained inside.

I’ll give another example. If I have all these folders and everyone of them contains a different serie:

Same Name [1]
Same Name [2]꞉ blah blah
Same Name [3]꞉ blah blah
Same Name [4]꞉ blah blah
Same Name [5]꞉ blah blah

…PLEX will only add the serie inside ‘Same Name [1]’ folder, and will ignore the rest.

When I say “PLEX ignore those folders” of course I really don’t know what PLEX is doing in the background, I don’t know if it tries to add them or it really ignore those folders. But at the end the series inside those folders are not added into my server.

Is this a bug?. If not, what can I do to solve it?. I don’t want to lose the naming pattern I’m using to organize those folders. Anyway, I tried to change the bracket chars “” for parenthesis “()”, but PLEX still ignoring those folders.

That’s just season 2, you can’t make it it’s own show if that is what you are trying to do.

Plex does ignore text inside brackets [ ]. Not sure what you are trying to do having those in the name.

Keep in mind that the show must exist in the source you’ve specified for your library.

See this, pelase:

I should can, if PLEX does not ignore the folders.

If I change the folder name to just “Tokyo Ghoul VA”, then everything should work perfectly, because as I said I have a .nfo file inside each folder pointing to the title on IMDB.

Plex does not use IMDB for TV Shows. It’s either TheMovieDB or TheTVDB, both of which only list Tokyo Ghoul as the show with Root A as season 2.

Edit: Re is season 3.

I understand, thank you for making me aware of this failure from my side. But then, is there no possible way, configuring the agent and those things when adding a TV shows library, to treat those two folders as two different series “Tokyo Ghoul” and “Tokyo Ghoul VA” like IMDB, instead of season 1 and 2 of “Tokyo Ghoul”?

You’ll also need to use Plex naming and organization

/A TV Show Library <-- TV Show library points here. Folder name unimportant.
../Tokyo Ghoul <-- Show Name
..../Season 01 <-- "Season" in English. Use two digits for season number.
....../Tokyo Ghoul - s01e01.ext <-- ext = mkv/mp4/etc.
..../Season 02
....../Tokyo Ghoul - s02e01.ext

When looking at the show in Web, on the … menu, do you see the option to split apart? That would separate the 2 folders back into separate shows. You couldn’t match Root A to a show, but it would show separately. You’d have to match it using the personal media agent to keep it from trying to match again.
