I have a series on my Plex in the following directory:
/volume1/Media/Shows (Anime)/Studio - Clamp/X TV (2001)/
Everything was working great with X/TV. Showed up in Plex, played well, had all the correct metadata. But then I added another series to my plex in the following directory:
The problem now, is that instead of Chobits showing up as a new series as a scan, it’s instead showing up as the primary files for X/TV. And when I click on getinfo for an episode, it shows both files:
I take it you have your tv-show library pointed at /volume1/Media/Shows (Anime)/Studio - Clamp/? Plex doesn’t deal well with additional (or missing) folder levels in a tv-show organization. If your library is pointing to /volume1/Media/Shows (Anime)/ you should not have additional grouping folders (like Studio - Clamp) between the top-level folder and your actual series folders
Also… it appears you got lucky those files are recognized by Plex at all. Your naming is quite far off from what Plex expects.
Everyone gets lucky now or then – until they don’t.
For the best chance of Plex properly finding / matching your media, you should stick with the naming schema and folder organization. Otherwise nobody can guarantee this won’t happen.
As a test, I moved both X and Chobits up one directory and out of the additional grouping and rescanned. That did not fix the issue. So I do not think this is the problem.
