Hello. Basically the same problem like here. But if I were to delete the item before Plex generates the thumbnails, it takes so much time for the server to acknowledge, that I’ve deleted it and keeps consuming resources for the generation (I guess it is keeping the files/frames in a buffer and does not rescan to check if the file is deleted or something.
My point is that it consumes a lot of resources for a good half an hour or so.
Interesting. I recently updated to 1.41.8.9834 on Windows and about an hour ago noticed that my server dash showed that it was still generating thumbs (showing about 50% progress) from a show recorded from DVR the previous evening, almost 24 hours earlier.
I don’t know. Maybe it keeps only the path of the media that is currently scanning and does not react when the media is changed. Also I think this happens when I stop the upload of the file unexpectedly (clicking cancel on, or closing Windows’s file transfer window).
Additional info: I just went to play the file in question and it’s a mess. Plex shows it as 10hr 6mins long. When playing it, it shows 1min 26s in length but looks like it was a poor signal and is choppy and distorted.
I’m going to delete the recording and wait for it to record from a repeat airing.
Edited to add: There were multiple copies in the associated folder all labelled (copy 1, 2 etc). I was unable to successfully delete them using plex. I had to navigate to the folder in Windows and delete them that way.
