Plex does not read external hard drive on Mac M1

Hi
I have a problem with Plex (latest version) on a Mac M1 with Monterey software, trying to load one library does not read external hard-disk (mac os journaled) while it reads another one (NTFS). Not so how to do it because i can’t reformat it i’m 10tb. Despite having Paragon installed (but it has nothing to do with it) it doesn’t work. The Mac reads it and I can interact regularly but if I try to load a library on Plex from external hard drive nothing to do, the server sees it but entering the folders it sees nothing, as if there were no folders. With the previous Mac (Intel processor and Mojave OS) everything was fine. They say it’s probably a permission question to be enabled but I don’t know how to do it, I’m completely inexperienced. Please can someone help me thanks in advance. G

The permission thing could be the app permissions. Plex on a Mac is usually running under your account – so if you can see/open/access the files, so should Plex.

As for the app permissions:

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy > Files & Folders
  2. Navigate to the Plex Media Server entry and check if it’s allowed to access removable volumes, network volumes… (as applicable).

Very well, thank you very much. Now I’m away from home, tomorrow I’ll try following your advice and I’ll let you know. Thanks again for the support. Ciao g

Hi Problem solved, I have to thank you very much. So, access to files and folders had already been enabled but did not see external hard disk (other external hard disk formatted with NTFS and MS-DOS FAT Plex saw them inside but the one with mac Os Journaled did not) I closed the application and I restarted it and still nothing, I didn’t see it. So I did another test always from security and privacy by going to “accessibility” and adding PLEX allowing the app to control the computer. I exited Plex by restarting it and it finally saw the disk. By following your suggestions I was able to solve, you saved me! A thousand thanks! Ciao g
