Plex doesn't flag new TV episodes unless app killed then re-opened

Greater than 50% of the time, I must kill then re-open the Plex app on my Apple TV in order to see newly recorded TV episodes such as NBC Nightly News. Frequently, even after selecting the option to scan my library, they won’t show up until I kill and re-open PLEX. My PLEX server is a Synology NAS 720+ OS version DSM 7.0.1-42218, PLEX Media Server version 1.25.0.5246-7000. I’m running version 7.26 (1744) of the PLEX app on the latest generation Apple TV 4K. FWIW, I don’t believe the problem is limited to version 7.26 of the Apple TV app because this issue has been ongoing for quite some time. I don’t really use PLEX on devices other than the Apple TV so can’t be certain the problem is with the Apple TV app or the server.
