I host a Plex Server that I share with some of my colleagues who access remotely using 4Mbits streams. In general about ten(10) of us access the server concurrently with no issues. I direct play content while the remote parties receive transcoded content.
On Sunday nights there’s some content that we all access. Those viewing remotely have given feedback that the audio drops out intermittently while the video works fine. Considering that I have no issues viewing directly I am led to believe the issue lies with the transcoder.
The server is pretty well spec’d and the CPU utilization at the time was under 20% and is generally pretty low. I have an Nvidia p4000 in the machine with hardware encoding on, along with 2 x E5-2680 v2s and 128GB’s of RAM. There is one Samsung Evo NVMe SSD in the device.
The storage for most of the content is from a FreeNAS system which in itself is over spec’d. The media server is on version 1.15.4.993.
Any thoughts? I have a few ideas myself but I don’t want to bias the responses.
