Hello.
All my PLEX Player Settings are enabled for DTS Passtrough, but it won’t work at all.
Plex Media Player on different Computers and also the Android PLEX Player at the Nvidia Shield. My TV is a SONY.
What does work are other Players like MPC (Media Player Classic) and also Emby over Android, not Windwos.
So it shows me that it will be possible to work wirh, but if i use PLEX on the Windows, there wan’t come any sound at all.
PLEX over Android will play the Sound because it seams to be transcoded down to 2.1.
I don’t think DTS works on Android but I have it working on windows 10 using PMP and optical connection direct to the amp. I am not sure how you are connected up but I am not sure if there are many TV’s that will passthough DTS from HDMI and ARC so maybe that’s the problem?
I alsop don’t know the really problem, there are a lot of Threads about the SONY TVs and also others. But my one doesn’t has Android.
It seems that its a problem how to integrate the Support perfectly to an app like PLEX.
Because if i use Windows 7 over the Media Player Classic (Activated Passtrough), it will work over HDMI direct from my PC to my TV. If i use the Windows 10 Tablet it won’t work at all but i usually don’t this one, so it does not matter for me.
Android on the NVIDIA Shield will also work over HDMI with Emby, but it wont work with PLEX, i will result in just 2.1 Sound, so it can’t be a problem from Android or SONY.
My Sound System is a Logitech Z906 and you can see at the Main Unit if the Audio comes over Passtrough or not, if yes the Z906 will decode it and show me the LED.
Win 7 MPC Player -> Works
Win 7 PLEX Media Player -> Works if you choose the wrong settings.
In the Settings you have to choose “Optical Output” (even if you go over HDMI) and you have to uncheck DTS Passtrough.
Just if you use this Settings, you will get a real DTS Passtrough.
If you choose HDMI and check or uncheck DTS Passtrough, you won’t get 5.1 Sound.
It looks like there are some bugs in PLEX, of course you can use this as temporary workaround, but the thing is also, if you choose “Optical” you wont have the aviablity to set the E-AC3 Audio to Passtrough.
Is there a special place to report things like this to get them improved for the future?
