This has been driving me nuts for months and I can’t take it anymore. Thetvdb.com did not split this show when the host changed, but the DVR pulls its episode information from a source that did split the episodes. When episodes record they get named and show up as Season 2 of The Daily Show, which aired in 1997. I tried searching for a fix but all I found was posts about their channel. What source does the DVR use for guide data and how do I set that as the primary agent for my DVR library?
I’m having the same exact problem. Plex DVR is recording it as Trevor Noah’s version, which is in season 2, however, thetvdb.com is showing it as season 23 (they haven’t reset the season # based on the host). Any ideas?
Still nothing, and the problem is getting worse. Last week it started putting episodes in the season 3 folder, starting at episode one. This week it also put episodes in the season 3 folder, but again started at episode one. So it thought those files were duplicates of the previous weeks episodes. I thought the show was off this week or something because they didn’t show up as on deck. I only noticed when I went to look at the season folder, and saw 3 episodes with duplicate files. This is what, 5 or 6 months now and the problem still hasn’t been fixed or even acknowledged by anyone at plex… Can you at least tell me what source the DVR pulls its metadata from so I can attempt a workaround? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
I’m having the exact same problem. I find myself having to go into the folder for the show and manually renaming the files.
The naming of the recording worked ONCE a couple of days ago. For me, it airs on CTV Canada at midnight, so the October 2nd episode was named “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015) - 2017-10-03 00 00 00 - Episode 10-03.ts” in the Season 03 folder, and got recognized in plex as an episode in “Season 2017”. However, each episode afterwards this week had the S03Exx naming and was recognized as an old episode.
I don’t know where the naming method came from for the October 2nd episode, but it worked well that day.
Oh man is this ever annoying. I know that technically we might be needing a fix on tvdb but would like to be able to “increment” the seasons in Plex.
