Plex DVR deleting repeat episodes as soon as they are done recording.

I’m having a problem whereby a particular show always seems to record fine and it is even post-processed by MCEBuddy/ComSkip successfully and then added to my library but it is then immediately deleted from the library. I’ve only noticed it with one show I record “FBI FIles”.

After reviewing my Plex Server logs:

@nsantalu Appears that you have a deletion policy set on FBI Files of 30 days.
Jul 13, 2017 16:29:41.817 [10368] DEBUG - Garbage Collector: Deleting expired unwatched content for The FBI Files (policy: -30 before 2017-06-13)
Jul 13, 2017 16:29:41.843 [10368] DEBUG - Garbage Collector: Deleting episode 14 - Rebellion in Paradise (beyond window of 30 days old)
Plex uses the original air date of episodes to determine when they should be deleted.
Probably similar issue with your other recordings that are being deleted.”

But I have been unable to find any setting under recording options, library options or server options that is set to 30 days for anything.

Does anyone know what I need to do to prevent Plex from deleting this show everytime

What I have suggested to several other users is to take a recently recorded show that is a new episode so the original air date in the metadata is recent. Rename the file to match the show you are having episodes deleted from and place it in the library. Plex should then pick up the show and hopefully not delete the episode so you can see the show in the library. Once in the library you can edit the settings. I am referring to the library, not recording settings. The Advanced tab in the Edit show settings dialog has the settings as shown in the image attached. Once you have modified the setting to keep all episodes you can delete the file copied into your library.

Ok, I’ve done what you said, I’ll have to wait and see if Plex deletes the show the next time it airs.

Thanks for your help!

It worked! Thanks for the tip.
