And given the poor performance of the DVR one should look for a complete alternative like EMBY, Tablo, Channels, or a host of other options.
PLEX created this guide data issue on their own. They had a reliable source of data and ditched it without warning. I don’t use PLEX often and certainly don’t rely on it but I can easily point to a handful of shows weekly that have recording issues because of bad guide data. Popular shows on the major networks. Then there’s the wait when OTA changes and/or stations are added. FREE services AUTOMATICALLY show the changes immediately yet it takes PLEX weeks and ONLY after it’s reported by a paying customer.
If you look around you’ll see threads that are more than 18 months old categorizing DVR101 issues that PLEX doesn’t even acknowledge anymore. It paints a picture and that picture isn’t pretty. LiveTV/DVR just is not a priority and I suspect the post that have said it’s because once you pay for the Lifetime PLEX Pass there’s no revenue.
Well emby makes it easy in this case, they supply a guide for two countries. Wow. Xmltv you can also use with Plex. So in my opinion there is no reason to dump the whole product just because of the guide.
When taken out of context is not ok, smokindog. My advice is to be proactive and look for EPG alternatives not media organizer software.
I’m not beating my drum for Emby at all, unlike yourself. Been there and don’t like it’s offering for numerous reasons. If you need to come to the Plex forums raking up support for the Green machine, that is truly a giveaway of your intentions. It’s extremely bias that you say lifetime Pass is a stigma of development, when Emby offer exactly the same subscription model. No further revenue for your solution voices hypocrisy by default.
So to conclude, clouding the DVR issues in a destructive manner is very transparent in nature, please repent you unwanted opinion.
I took nothing out of context. I extended what you said because it makes no sense to me to buy a product that can’t provide the service for which it was purchased only to augment it with another product.
I beat no drum for EMBY. I listed various alternatives that provide a complete solution for LiveTV/DVR as well as an accurate and reliable guide. It had nothing to do with media organizer software (NOW who is taking a comment out of context).
The solution is to not reward inferior products and support those that deliver on their promises.
Your poor interpretation of taking a tagline as my intention.
If you read my posts concerning the use of third party EPG was also a solution by numerous subscribers.
The strange thing is my solution works, yet you think it’s inferior
