I have setup recoding of Formula 1 only on Channel 4 HD. I came home tonight to find nothing was recording even though it was a new episode.

I had to change to record new and repeats to get it to record.

Apart from that the other issue is I try and watch the plus 1 version on Channel 15.
Plex now offers me to watch live or recording.
With the recoding starting 2 minutes ago on Channel 104. I select live and it tunes to 104 channel 4 HD not channel 15 plus 1.

It doesn’t matter what I choose, I get the the HD version with 15 minutes left to play missing all the qualifying.

I had Emby and moved to plex as emby was struggling with the quality of the recordings, glitches etc that I am not seeing in Plex.
I must say plex’s implementation of the epg doesn’t come close to the offering from emby.

I can’t believe how bad plex is in this basic function.

The fix for the “New” indicator must have come too late for your EPG. A manual refresh I did today at 11:50am did pick the “New” indicator update

What time was it when you selected the channel 4+1 channel?

And what do you have for these 2 DVR settings?

Hi sa2000,

I was specific when setting up the recording limiting it to HD only, channel 104 only with partial recordings.

The time was 19.50 ish when I tuned in and found the recording hadn’t happened.

Looking at tomorrow’s schedule the same recording is showing on Channel 4 plus 1 which is an hour later and SD.

It seems as if the schedule is overriding all program episodes and you will not be able to tune to that channel.

Is there a way to trigger an EPG update without logging into the computer?

I’m using the android app and Samsung smart tvs but if I want to update the EPG I have to fire up the computer.

To summarize:

The channel 4 HD airing was 18:45 to 20:15
The channel 4 + 1 SD airing was 19:45 to 21:15

Recording was setup limiting to
HD Only
Channel 104 (Channel 4 HD)
New airings only

It did not record because the New indicator was not set

At 19:50 - 5 minutes into the airing on the SD Channel 4+1 channel, you tried to watch Channel 4+1

This should be possible - it should tune channel 15 (4+1) to watch live TV at that time.

There was no recording in progress - was there?

It is only possible to request an EPG Refresh through the Plex Web app and going to server settings. You can use Plex Web in a browser on any device / computer - including browser on mobile devices.

Well - the computer that runs Plex Media Server would need to be running irrespective of where you request the refresh from

As F1 wasn’t recording I changed to recored both new and repeat which started recording the remainder of the HD version. This stopped me from running to channel 15.

I have plex running on a Qnap Nas, so it is running all the time.

I updated the EPG tonight and this brought in F1 new. I then changed my recording back to only new and it is still scheduled for tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

It would be a great addition to able to refresh from the mobile app.

Hi,
Again no new stamp on Motogp on Channel 12 Quest 18.00 ton the 20th so the only way to get a recording is to select new and repeat. There has to be a better way iin implementing the EPG / recording function.

I can see that not many airings have the “New” indicator on this channel. I have flagged this to our provider.

Well another disaster.
Motogp recording is actually wheeler dealer then when I go to quest plus 1 channel 76 through the guide plex won’t tune to the channel, it is still showing a recoding of the moto gp. On the guide.

Looks like wrong program in the schedule. I have escalated this back. May be it was a late change to the schedule by Quest. I do not know.

Looking at https://www.dplay.co.uk/live/quest/2020-07-20 it does show that it should have been Wheeler Dealers

That could be transmitter signal issue / transmitter change needing re-scan of channels. Also some DVRs may not be able to receive signals from all the UK transmitters

No it wasn’t a transmitter change. I pulled out of plex and went back to normal terrestrial on the TV and tuned directly to channel 76. Going back into plex I still wasn’t able to select 76 and the only thing on was the potential recording.of motogp.

That’s twice now on different days where the same thing has happened. Unable to select a channel where a potential recording was taking place.
