Plex DVR no longer works - HDHomeRun Connect no DVR functionality, audio only on web

Windows 10 Plex Server 1.9.6.4385
2x HDHome Run Connects

My issue is that my Plex DVR will no longer record anything at all. Plex Web sessions on all devices have audio but no video. If I manually start a DVR recording, the HDHomerun app will not show my Plex Server as a locked tuner IP.

I recently upgrade my HDhomeruns to version 2017930. My last Plex DVR recording was the same day, prior to my upgrade. I am on auto-update from Plex and do not know exactly when the server was updated. I have Beta as my update channel and have a Plex pass.

I have made some recent changes to my server, but they were all prior to this issue. I moved the Plex appdata folder and the transcode folder to a brand new disk about a month ago. This made no change.

My trouble shooting so far has been restarting everything, reinstalling the HDHomerun Firmware (same version, 2017930) . I also deleted all of the legacy “Plex Media Server” folder on the new drive as well because it doesn’t take much time for it to be rebuilt.

In my tuner logs, I see:
DEBUG - * file_tuner::get_stream_file. File C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Private\devices\dvb\file\drv_file.ini does not exist
and
DEBUG - * BDA: DeviceGetListEx_impl. Skipped Silicondust virtual BDA driver

I changed the BDA options in the HDHomerun setup program through all of the options with no luck. I then uninstalled the HDHomeRun Setup program entirely.

I’m at a loss and really want to record the World Series game tonight.

Thanks for your time and help.

Okay, I have changed nothing since I made this post. But it seems things are working now. I’ll update as I give out what happened.

The DVR and live TV only functioned for a couple of hours. No changes have been made since my initial post. The web app now displays an error after some time of trying to watch live TV. The error says “Unable to tune channel (Timed out)”.

I have the same problem and I’m running PlexServer on CentOS 7.x. It is something about the latest Plex update to 1.9.4.4325.
I have not updated my HDHomeRun, has been at 20170930 prior to this problem starting. The troubleshooting I have done indicates it is something to do with the Channel Guide. I check the recording schedule and there are series listed, but they say “No upcoming airings” then I go check the guide, and it says to refresh, which I do and it downloads the guide and then my DVR schedule has upcoming events listed. I come back a couple hours later and the schedule is filled with 'No upcoming airings" and the guide is empty and around and around we go.

I have updated my network settings to pass tmsimg.plex.tv around my VPN connection and the DVR functionality and live TV viewing ability returned. I will update if there are any changes.

I also updated to PMS 1.9.6.4401, but this was after making the network change.

I have the same issue with my WinTV-quadHD.
It suddenly stopped working. all i get is audio and a black screen on every channel.

I know this is an old thread but figured I’d throw this out there in case someone else with HDHomeRun tuners. I was having an issue with both of my HDHomeRun Extends. The transcode configuration was set to Heavy. Once I switched this to mobile, started working like a charm. Can tune channels even days later and all recordings are succeeding. I’m also rebooting the PMS both HD Homerun tuners using automated scripts. hope this helps someone!

I’m back, 6 days later. I have the latest up-to-date firmware for the Tuners and Plex is on the most current version available currently, still the issues with being unable to tune to channel and recording failures came back. So…I completely uninstalled my plex media server (https://support.plex.tv/articles/201941078-uninstall-plex-media-server/). It really wasn’t as big of a pain to add the libraries, recording schedules and other settings back as I thought it would be. Today is day 2 with my new server install and so far it is working great. No rebooting of the server or tuners has been required.
