Appears that the recording was successful. Just don’t see any entries where it was moved from grab folder or anything after the last entry I have below.

I do see several other transcode sessions with what appears to be playing recorded content and some Live TV going on as well. Wonder if the transcode activity was slowing the recording getting transcoded and moved into the Library. Logs end at 12:31:17 so don’t know if anything else was happening with the recording after that point.
Is the recording still displaying the red circle? There was several reports on the forum regarding recordings that never appeared to end, still had the red circle hours after the recording should have finished. I had one instance myselff. Had to stop/restart Plex Server to get it to quit and then lost the recording after restart.
Perhaps a Plex Employee can look at your logs and provide some other insight. @keithah@BigWheel
Attaching a new set of logs.
FYI, no Live TV going on at the moment of that recording or at all today.
Yes, the recording is still showing the red circle as well as the many others from last week.
If you have several of these I would suggest a reboot or stop Plex and restart. Probably going to lose all those recordings which you can’t access now anyway.
Just restarted the server and the dots went away like you said. That’s probably why I noticed this issue happening on and off since I have restarted the server due to updates, etc.
I’m hoping to find a better solution since I have no way of knowing when the next recording will fail.
You can revert back to 1.6.1 until this issue goes away. That is what others have done. You won’t have Live TV but the DVR will work much better. I reverted back to 1.6.1 due to issues with only one of my HDHR devices being used for recordings, if I had more than 2 recordings at the same time the 3rd , 4th, etc. recordings would fail. When 1.7.6 was released I decided to try it during a couple of hours in which no recordings were schedule. The issue with multiple recordings failing is now not a problem for me, still is for other users but it is working for me.
I’m also having this problem. I am running Server 2012 R2. Plex will usually record one show, but has not yet successfully recorded my other show. I watched the transcoder process in task manager today while it was “recording” and it was definitely doing something, but no folder was created for the show, and the episode never appeared in Plex.
I upgraded to 1.8.0.4109 today hoping there would be a fix, but it still failed.
I have attached my transcoder logs. Let me know if any of my other logs could be helpful.
I did have both shows attempt to start recording at the same time, but there were 2 transcoders running. Other days the shows have not overalped at all.
it happens to me on the shows that were in the library already prior to start using DVR function. I have started more logging, will post when they are available.
I’m having the same issue on my Synology NAS. It worked once and never again. Lifetime Plex Pass was a complete waste of money as I have had nothing but issues with Plex. Going back to HDHomeRun for recording.
Thanks for the link, but no joy. I even reverted back to 1.5 and updated to 1.8. Plex simply refuses to record any Seinfeld episode. Doesn’t matter if I schedule the recording or hit record while the show is airing. It says it is recording but will not save the file. Is it time to ditch the plex pass and use HD Home run to do the recordings? I’m not seeing any help from Plex on this issue and it appears others are having the same issues.
@wannabe1 are you sure it is not saving and then removing the recording? Have you looked through the Plex Media Server log for any entries with the show/episode being recorded. Look for any Garbage Collection messages. Have seen many users with similar situation where Plex was recording and placing file in library and once detected in library Garbage Collection checked episode and removed it because episode was older than Settings user established for keeping episodes. Plex uses the original air date of the episode to determine what to keep, users had set deletion policy on show to keep for 30 days. Since original air date was older than 30 days Plex deleted episode recorded because user setting said to only keep episodes newer than 30 days old.
This method is very crude, and you must save your shows in a separate location. I suspect that the plex database is somehow confused when same shows are found from different directories. And I run Plex in a Ubuntu machine.
Here is step 1:
I purged the Plex, removed /var/lib/plexmediaserver, restart the computer. Then reinstall Plex, but use brand new directory owns by plex:plex to store TV shows.
And now recording works on all shows.
I will try to move my “old” shows to these new directories.
I have to say, I’ve had very few issues with programmes not recording to the schedule, but then I’ve been using a DVR folder to save them from the very first beta release.
dvr partially records show or doesn’t even start. windows 10 core i7 16 GB memory hauppage dual
VERY UNRELIABLE. Wanting to cut the cord but this is not a viable replacement as I have not been able to successfully record a program with plex. If I record with the hauppage software the recordings (2 at once) are clear and complete.
So far its worked pretty well (although the Plex server itself does seem more unstable than before- it crashes every other day, overnight)
However no radio show has yet recorded, with around 3 attempts so far
The next radio show I have scheduled shows a yellow exclamation point, but no explanation why (and no clash), and the following radio show says it will record (But I suspect it wont, when it becomes the next to record)

There is a bug with recording from radio channels. The Plex Media Server crashes. This has now been reproduced by the development team and will be working on a fix
I have had no recording work for the past few weeks, PlexTranscoder.exe keeps crashing and I think this might be the reason? I too get 100% recording complete. I have tried setting it to transcode on the fly and without this option. I can upload any logs if you think more will help you diagnose the issue?
