I’ve noticed that when recording Live TV Plex will stop recording a whole minute before the show ends. Now I know that I can add minutes to record after to combat this issue. But when I do that the final recording is still a minute short of what it should be.
Here is what I am seeing: I set a program to record that airs between 7 and 8 pm. In the DVR Schedule is show the next up coming airing 7-8 pm. Go to watch the show after it has recorded and expect to find a recording that is 60 minutes long only to find that it is 59 minutes long. And when watching the recording the show cuts off in the middle of the villains monologue how they will make the hero pay next week.
At first I though maybe the channels time and my time were out of sync. So I started to watch the show that immediately followed that but it started recording at the very beginning of the show and there is a gap where nothing is recorded between shows.
To me it seems that Plex stops the recording at the beginning of the last minute of the show instead of the end of it. IE Plex is stopping at 7:59:00 instead of 7:59:59 or even just 8:00:00.
I have added 5 minutes at the end of all my shows, but still the recordings are 64 minutes instead of 65. And no I’m not using comskip, it breaks my server.
Looks like I may have been mistaken. While trying to pull logs for the two shows that recorded on Sunday stopped too early when playing on Monday. I was looking at the .ts files creation, last modified and play times in explorer. On one of the files I noticed that it’s play time is 59:53. So I decided to play it just using a standard media player. An it had another 2ish minutes after it cut off when playing through the player on one of my Roku’s
Of course now It will play through that time when I fast forward to the end to watch it. And I don’t remember what time of the day we were watching the video. And I restarted the computer that runs my PMS due it it constantly restarting the music scanner. So I will have to watch something all the way through and see if it cuts off early again, then go grab the logs.
I have something similar. I thought shows I record with comskip end early, so I added two minutes to the end of shows, they still end early, when playing through roku . They end at a slightly different, but still early time, when played on iOS.
But the native .ts file has the whole time still there, the part that Plex is not playing. So I can use vlc to view the minute or so plex doesn’t show.
My wife has told me this happens on here shows where we don’t do comskip.
