I’m running with an HD Homerun Connect Quatro tuner.
My databases are big, and are on SSD’s. I have no issue with ssd’s up until now as i can control or monitor how it gets used up - more or less. What i cant control - or find - is the time shifting record location.
Can someone tell me where it records by default - for movies and tv shows - and can i change that location?
I believe all of the recordings are laid to disk in the root of the destination folder for the recording schedule in a .grab directory. So if you had a folder such as /media/tv_shows/ your recording (while it is being recorded) will go into the /media/tv_shows/.grab/ directory. You would stream off of those files in the .grab// directory.
LiveTV (as in LiveTV tuned channels instead of a recording or watching a recording in progress) however appears to lay down data in the Transcode directory.
Better documentation of what goes where would be excellent since optimizing your use of SSD vs spinning disk has an impact on server performance and user experience.
