Plex DVR wake PC from sleep to record presecheduled TV shows

Can Plex server wake a windows 10 PC (NUC) to record prescheduled TV programmes?
Using the NUC6i3SYK with Hauppauge WinTV dualHD USB TV Tuner.
Everything else works great, would just like to put the NUC to sleep between recordings.

This needs to happen. The only thing keeping me from adopting this as a dvr is this functionality. All of my home computers sleep after a period of time to save energy. NextPVR, a free piece of software, will wake a computer and allow it to sleep. Your paid software won’t. That is pretty sad.

+1 I can’t believe I need to keep the PC awake 7x24 just to record TV shows. That’s a really big shortcoming…

Like the above 2 posts say, Plex DVR needs to be able to wake a pc from sleep in order to be practical to a bunch of us out here! NextPVR does it, Windows Media Center used to do it ever so well. (WMC wouldn’t even let you accidentally sleep your machine if it was busy recording, the PC just looked like it went to sleep while it continued to record…) NextPVR isn’t so nice, you’ll terminate the recording if you sleep your machine while recording… But even if Plex DVR doesn’t do what WMC could, it could AT LEAST give one the option to wake your sleeping PC to record a program! As Cyclump, above, stated, “The only thing keeping me from adopting this (Plex DVR) as a dvr is this (wake-to-record) functionality”. Engineers at Plex need to get to work on this! I wouldn’t be a lifetime member had I known this very basic DVR functionality wasn’t there. Please get busy, Plex!

If you are wanting this feature you need to find the Feature Request and vote for it. Posting in the forum outside of the feature request does nothing to make Plex aware of the top priorities user desire. The caveat of course is just because there is a feature request it is no indication that Plex will work on it anytime soon.

[Feature Request] Allow Plex media server to sleep/wake properly including DVR recordings

This has probably been asked before, but I would like to ask for Plex Server to sleep and wake up including the ability to do this for DVR recordings. It would wake on request from any app and sleep again after a time when not in use. The sleep could be done by the operating system. This would mean that a process in Plex would need to be present for Windows (or other) to notice and stay awake - not currently possible when recording live TV. This would save power and money.
