Plex Employee to Reset Server Certificate? "API rate limit exceeded" error

Hi i’m having the same issue with certificates. Can you reset mine as well please? Error messages are below.

Hi, this is my first attempt to communicate in the Plex community. I recently installed Plex Media Server and can’t for the life of me figure out how to connect “securely.” The logs indicate:

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

I would love if anyone could point me to a post, or KB, or anything to resolve.

Thanks!
Jared

Can you do mine too please?

it is a new issue not the same as the one this topic was originally about. We are investigating it.

If you could share these things with me via message it would be appreciated. ( click on my username/avatar to message me)

  1. your server logs
  2. a copy of your cert-v2.p12 or certificate.pk12 file which is in the Plex Media Server/cache folder that is in app data Where is the Plex Media Server data directory located? | Plex Support
    if you are on a Mac the cert file will be in ~/Library/Caches/Plex Media Server
  3. the name of your server

@TheGreatJarodo see my recent post

Thank you. I checked:
~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/
and there is no cache folder so there are no certs. I was able to download some logs and the server name was plexmini.

if you are on a Mac the cert file will be in ~/Library/Caches/Plex Media Server

I don’t see the certificate in the path mentioned. Attaching a screenshot to show contents.

ok thanks.

I too am having this same issue with the Cert not being able to renew. I also checked my ~/Library/Caches/PlexMediaServer folder and there is no certs in there. Anything I can provide to help troubleshoot the issue.

Can you try and reset my certificate to see if that helps?

@Dan0780 @TheGreatJarodo you two might have the original issue. I did reset your certs. please let me know if ok for you

I had the folder open as you reset it and saw the files you requested suddenly appear. Thank you mine seems to be working now.

I saw the cert come in and I don’t have all the warnings through a browser anymore so I believe you fixed it. Thank you so much for your time!

Probably doesn’t matter now but these were coming through the console.
[CERT] TLS connection came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name ‘xxxxxx’; using installed plex.direct cert

yeah that is normal.

Same issue here - no certs in the cache folder, and this appears in the log every couple of minutes:

Jun 04, 2021 15:35:20.444 [7172] ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<errors>
  <error code="1003" message="API rate limit exceeded"/>
</errors>

Are you able to reset the certs please?

@kevinpaulnz done

@BigWheel you’re a legend, thanks!

Hi @BigWheel, I’m having the same SSL/rate limiting issue. Any chance I can get a reset as well?
