Plex error: Could not dynamically load CUDA on Intel NUC

Server Version#: Version 1.29.1.6316
Player Version#: Version 1.55.0.3278-c6164b3c

Logs: https://we.tl/t-JpdiJrIq4T

I’ve got this error : Could not dynamically load CUDA while using my server on Intel NUC.
Because of this error a lots of my videos are unplayable.

Is there something I can do to resolve this issue?

Thank you very much!

That error has nothing to do with the video not playing. It just means it could not find a CUDA gpu.

Do you have the option enabled to “Disable video stream transcoding”?

Hi, thank you for your help.

Yes, i enabled to “Disable video stream transcoding”. When i disable this option I can see that my server can’t transcode anything (I have a NUC i7 7th gen) even audio

Enabling that setting makes it so nothing will transcode. You don’t want that unless you are sure all your videos will direct play.

If transcoding does not work with that setting disabled, please reproduce and get me the server log.

In Settings → Transcoder:

Set Transcoder Quality = Automatic.

Configure additional settings as shown in the picture below.

Your system may struggle to transcode and tonemap 10-bit HEVC video, especially 4K HDR video. Hardware accelerated tonemapping is not fully supported on Windows systems. See HDR to SDR Tone Mapping.

Transcoding doesn’t work with this setting disable, here are the log: https://we.tl/t-9FdwgSlA2r

I think i may have to be something with the audio transcode.
Usually, I only Direct Play, (with the option enable and if the audio is not supported Plex is transcoding it anyway).
Now it doesn’t transcode the audio at all, with or without the option enable

I thought you are playing back on the Desktop app. Your logs show an Android phone. Is that right? Do you see the same problem on the Desktop app?

My desktop is playing the file, but yes my Android device doesn’t.

The error only occur when i try to read a file with EAC3 audio codec
If i enable Disable transcode the file doesn’t play
If i disable Disable transcode the file doesn’t play

Same file with AC3 audio codec is playing fine.

A friend of mine with whom I share my server reported the same issue i have, files with AC3 codec work, those with EAC3 codec doesn’t.

So it seems to be a transcode issue, do you see anything like this ?

Can you get me the XML info for a video that causes this? It looks like it may be due to the video having HDR info and your gpu is unable to handle it.

If that is the case, turn off the option to enable tone mapping. The colors in these videos will look weird and some clients may not play the file, but non-HDR files should transcode properly.

Thank you for your help, here is the XML of the file:

My android device can easly Direct Stream 4k HDR AC3 files but can’t play a 4k HDR EAC3 files

Enableing or disableing HDR Tone mapping doesn’t change a thing, I get the error message that plex can’t read that file

That’s correct. Android cannot decode EAC3, it can only pass through. However, it should be able to copy the video and just transcode the audio. Can you get me a new log? Just attach the log file here, no need to put it on another site.

Here it is chef!

I need the Android logs from the Shield to confirm but it looks like your Shield is not configured for HDR content. Please check the Shield’s main settings to make sure HDR is enabled. Changing the tone mapping setting won’t help in this case since the Shield will not accept the HDR content.

The Shield is playing the file fine in HDR, the option is activated in its settings.

But it is not playing in this phone, that can play other 4k HDR files just fine.
Here are the logs of the phone:

There are many types of ways to encode video and that video has a parameter called ColorTrc set to smpte2084. You can see this in the xml info you provided. Your device does not support this specific encoding method so it is requesting PMS to transcode the video. Your PMS cannot transcode this so it fails. Try with another video that doesn’t have this and see if that will play.
