according to this (Local Files for Movie Trailers and Extras | Plex Support) Plex “extra” folders only work for “movie” type folders. It would be nice if they also worked for “videos” ((home, class, manufacturer demo, etc) videos - no metadata) and “tv shows”. Is the documentation correct that only movie folders can have “extra” folders or is the documentation missing some other valid options. I currently have tv shows with a large number of extras files it would be nice if they could be segregated into folders.
With the new scanner for tv shows, you can add extras at the show, season, and even episode levels: [BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner
However, currently not all Plex clients have implemented support for these.
So it will be a while…
Same for “other videos” libraries.
I have some local extras stored alongside some family videos (e.g. related photos put into a slideshow video).
Example:
home-videos <- the folder linked to my other-videos type library
Wedding of XYZ (2010)
Wedding of XYZ.mp4 <- the actual video
Other
Slideshow 1 - Preparations.mp4
Slideshow 2 - At the Civil Registry Office.mp4
Slideshow 3 - Official Ceremony.mp4
Slideshow 4 - Party.mp4
Slideshow 5 - Official Photos.mp4
From what I’ve seen, those are supported/working across all clients.
