Extra Folders not showing up (TV)

Hi, I was following this guide: Local Files for Movie Trailers and Extras | Plex Support

My folders are sorted like this (This is in the TV Base folder):

I guess this is not correct ? I know I do not use the Year in the Folder names because my library never had years when I was switching to Plex. Is this the problem ?

The normal episodes are shown as usual.

Any help is much appreciated.

That link is for movie libraries. See this for TV: https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/

And also don’t miss this part:

Note: Certain clients do not yet fully support TV extras but keep an eye out on our forum as our support pages will be updated once official support is available. Currently, the only clients that fully support extras at all levels are the mobile iOS and Android apps. Other apps like the Web client, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku have limited support while the modern TV interface for Smart TVs does not yet have support for any local TV extras.

Thanks @drzoidberg33 , I completely overlooked this. Also the Note …

So I moved the folders to the root of the Doctor Who folder:

But still I can’t see the extras. Funny I do see the same Extras in the Android App, The FireTV App and the Web app, but non of the extras I have added.
(I’m not using the inline version I want to go with the folders if possible)

Inline does not seem to work too. I know the error is with me, but I need to understand what I need to adjust.

How exactly have you named them and where are they located in your folder structure?

You mean the inline versions ? The Extra Folder does not seem to be recognized too

The inline file sits next to the the episodes in the season folder.

If you’re using inline naming, the base name of both the episode file and the extra must be the exact same.

In your case… if the episode file is named Doctor Who S07E01.mkv, the extra must be named Doctor Who S07E01-behindthescenes.ext

As for

Given this is still season-tier extras… have you had the opportunity to check on an Android mobile or iOS client after refreshing the show’s metadata? Those are as-of-today the only clients which will display season-tier extras to start with.

Is there anything else I need to configure ?

I’m testing with an Android client, refreshing metadata does not help either.

Two things coming to mind:

  1. make sure this is actually an Android mobile device (no Android TV or similar)
  2. confirm your library is using the Plex TV Series agent

Yes its my Pixel 5 (Android 12)
Its using Plex TV Series as agent

In that case, please:

  1. move the extras out from the Doctor Who folder
  2. refresh the show’s metadata
  3. return the files to their location
  4. check that your server has Enable Plex Media Server debug logging activated (but verbose logging disabled → Settings > [Server Name] > General)
  5. refresh the show’s metadata and wait for it to fully complete the job (give it 1 extra minute)
  6. download your server logs and share them here

Hi Tom80H, thanks, let me know if you need anything else.

Edit, I’ve just done the steps again as I wasn’t 100% sure if I did the steps correctly. Sorry if you have already started looking at the logs.

Ok… based on your logs, Plex appears to be finding your extras for Doctor Who (both, the inline and extra-folder versions).

There should be an Extras hub at the bottom of the respective season page with those videos. Here’s how this will look like on an iOS device (should be similar to what you’ll see on Android)

Side note:
You know that you can list those X-Mas, New Year etc. specials as actual specials. This way they should get a full set of metadata, thumbs etc.
“Sternenhimmel” (S07 Weihnachtsspecial) is listed as s00e47 (with some of those specials you’ll need to double-check the correct ordering as The Movie Database and TheTVDb can occasionally be a bit off).

Thanks for the side note. I did not put too much time into this yet, this is the first time trying to implement this. So far I have an “extra” library for the extras and I simply tried it with the first files I got the from season…

I do find this section, but it only consists of the online contend (4 files). Not sure if this prevent my local files ?

Your extras have been added to the season level. That’s where you should be able to find them. The online extras on the show level won’t interfere with that.
