I’ve been stuck trying to add TV shows or Movies (using the direct search “tt7945066” for example) with no luck. I wonder if a tag box via the gui or even a directory addition “/showname/tt-imdb-tag/S01” could be included?
Sitting here adding “tt-imdb-tag” in the search can just go round in circles if it’s not finding the show.
The additional code only for those shows/movies that are unrecognised.
Be interesting to see what others think too?

For movies I use the fix match with the imdb tt7945066 id. It works most of the time.
Are you naming the folder/file name exactly what the name is in IMDB or thetvdb? Including year? I think I have ever only had to “fix match” and use the IMDB number maybe twice in the last 6 years. I find the movie name and year and copy it right from the page and paste that as the name in the file and it always just finds it.
Could your agents be misaligned?
Normally just works with named folders with sub folders numbered as I stated.
Used the search direct with the IMDB ID, nearly always successful.
But this is a suggested feature where I put in the desired ID tag, rather than going round in circles with ones that don’t tally up in the search for some reason or other.
That way, I know I’ve got the right tag if the name fouls the system folder syntax.
BTW this is on a FreeNAS system in it’s own jail, so I can keep it up to date, more often.
Note that tt7945066 is “Gen: Lock”, so using : in the folder wouldn’t be wise.

Regularly unsuccessful for more obscure stuff (like home video releases) that are listed on IMDB.
That’s a TV show. That is not going to match with the Plex Movie agent. Even though it’s there in IMDB, the agent is only designed to match treatrically released movies. On some cases it may pick up a DVD movie or documentary, but they are not guaranteed. TV Shows will almost never match.
For actual movies we already have a way to use the IMDB TT number automatically. Create a “movie name (year).nfo” text file and add the id as the only line.
