Plex Movie Agent Doesn't Find Things

My old Plex Server computer died (the system, NOT the data drives) and I’ve been slowly building a new one and allowing it to use use the Plex Movie agent because it is WAY better than whatever the system I built over a year ago used. However… I’ve run into some titles that the Plex Movie agent (along with all others) simply refuses to find, even though I can find them myself on IMDB, which the Plex Movie agent supposedly uses. For example, neither http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113726/?ref_=tt_rec_tt nor http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267497/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 get found by ANY of the agents, even when the title and year are taken directly from the site(s) where the agent will be searching! I’m not sure whose bug this is, but is certainly annoying.

There’s not really a question here, but I’m not sure where to post bug reports – it will probably be obvious in retrospect, but right now I didn’t find it.

Which platform does the server run on?
Which language has your library set?
How are your files and folders named?
Are your files stored on the same machine as the server runs on or are they on a NAS?

Platform: Windows
Language: English
Files/Folder naming: As per Plex naming standards
All files are local

And remember, I’ve manually tried many, many variations of the file names using the “Match” tool to enter a name, year (or no year) and choose a search engine. There appears to be NO WAY to cause the referenced items (and others) to be found – even though the movies/shows are listed on IMDB.

You could try using the Fix Incorrect Match function on the individual movie, then in the Search options, use the IMDB tag instead of the movie name (tt0113726 for the first one you listed) and see if that works - it has for me when I’ve encountered a troublesome film.

Please, I need to see actual folder/file names. Or scanner log files.

You could also try this https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/2yk49z/guide_plex_and_anime_a_guide_to_combining_movies/
if the trouble is strictly with anime.

Ottokerner: Oh, you asked “how” things are named, now “what” they were named. But here’s the answer to your NEW question for the two movies I referenced:

Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II - Lovers Again (1992).mp4
Firesign Theatre Presents ‘Hot Shorts’ (1983).mp4

Are the movies file names. They are NOT stored in separate subdirectories since I want no extras and one file per subdirectory has proven to be an unnecessary PITA. When I tried typing in various different versions, with and without the year, in the ‘(fix) match’ panel, I ALWAYS had no results.

But I never thought of trying the IMDB tag numbers. I’ll need to give that a try…Strangely, using the IMDB tag number worked for Macross, but not for the Firesign Theatre film. So it seems to be a 50% successful work-around for these search failures. Thanks! That’s better than I had before.

I tried the second one with a dummy file and got no match either.
The only explanations I have are, either it is simply too obscure (would be weird though)
or it is a software error due to the quotation marks in the title.
Will relay this to the developers.

The first one is not a movie, but a tv show.
it is on TheTVDB but under the title Macross II

If you have the ‘montage’ version of this series, you could stick it into the specials season.

The first one is a compilation from a TV show that was released as a movie, at least on DVD and it is listed at IMDB (and searching for it by IMDB tag number works) but it still isn’t found. Regardless, thanks for listening! It is appreciated.
