Plex for Android 10 / Problem with DoVi and HDR10+

I am still having this problem. No improvement since the beta at all. My TV still tries to play DV and HDR10+ simultaneously with files containing both DV and HDR10+ fallback.

Would you be able to provide your Android Logs and possibly a sample file?

I am using a PHILIPS 65OLED937/12 OLED TV. The TV supports both DV and HDR10+. I think that is causing the problem in the new version. Like I mentioned before, everything works fine in 9.31. Here are a few AIDA64 screenshots for system information:




So what exactly is happening when you start playback of that title? I don’t have your TV but mine correctly plays as DoVi and according to your logs, it is playing in DoVi.

The TV shows the symbol that the file is being played with DoVi (Dolby Vision Logo) but than additionally the symbol pops up that the TV is playing the file with HDR10+. Then the colours are completely washed out and extremely orange and dark. In the android TV version 9.31 the TV only says it is playing with DoVi (and HDR10+ is not mentioned); the colours are clear and the dark scenes are nice and visible.

Ok that’s is extremely weird and shouldn’t be possible especially since we strip out HDR10+ if DoVI is present. Have you tried installing v9.31 again since the update to see if it still works fine? We are just wondering if a TV update could have caused a problem.

Yes, I am using 9.31 the whole time because of this problem. It is just annoying because I need to side-load it and turn off auto updates. 9.31 still works fine.

Ok would you be able to provide logs from v9.31 as well as the latest version. We will require the full log files.

@TheOne320 The fix for this should be included in the next 10.8.0 beta, which will likely be available tomorrow or the next production release which will start rolling out next week Tuesday.

Is the fix in the newest official beta? I did not see anything in the changelog.

Looks like no release note was created for it but it was definitely in v10.8.0
