Plex for Android 7.14.0.9748-beta do not stop crashing

Hello,
I search the forum and it seem that I am the only one with this problem. Plex player 7.14 don’t stop crashing on my devices. I installed it on my tablet Samsung Galaxy tab 12.2 and on my Xiaomi mi box 3. I am unable to listen something, the application always crash and restart.

This proble has appeared with the first beta of the plex player 7.14.

Am I alone ? Or others have the same problem ?

The version 7.13 of the plex player work well.

Thank you
I can provide log if that help.
Mike

Please do provide logs if you can. You are not alone.

Thanks for the report, at what point does the crash occur?

Hi ! The crash occur each time I start a video. So, I am able to surf in my librairies but as soon as I start a video, the video play between 1 to 10 seconds and Plex player crash and restart.

Hi,
I’m also having the issue, on both my Smartphone Cubot Max and Fusion 5 F105D Tablet. My phone runs Android 6 and the Tablet runs Android 8.1

Only started happening after the last update.

Here’s hoping for a fix soon, especially for my phone as my 3 year old son likes watching his cartoons while on the bus.

Dave

Can you please confirm if this is occurring in the latest beta? (.9809), also can you please direct message me some logs?

Hello @SamFromPlex
I confirm that the problem still occur with the last beta. I will send you log tonight (Eastern time) after my work.

Wich log do you want my server log ? Or the log I can access via http://192.168.XX.XX/logging ?

The device logs. I guess you are on an Android TV device?

Here is info on sending us logs: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/

We need some adb logs of this crash if anyone is able to provide them it would be useful tracking it down!

@mikeaubin666 I think you want the second link.

Hi @SamFromPlex and all!
Have installed v7a version on my Cubot Max Smartphone, and one thing I’ve still noticed, it goes into HW transcodes on MPEG 2 live streams, something it never used to till 2 updates ago.
Will try the same link on my Fusion 5 F105D Tablet once I’ve got my 3 year old son settled and 4 month daughter settled for the night. I did notice that device going into HW transcode to last night after the last beta update on live TV to. Is this supposed to happen as I’m on the home network direct WiFi connection?

Dave

Hi @SamFromPlex !
This new beta work really well. No more crash for the moment on my Samsung Notes 12.2 and my Xiaomi mi box 3. I will continue my testing and will give you more feedback later.

Only one problem still, but I don’t think it’s related to your beta, the audio passthrough do not work well. Passthrough work for the first movie I play after the start of plex app, for all other movie I start after the HDMI passtrhough do not work.

Passthrough has been crashing the app for a while now, so you aren’t alone in that. The same thing is happening with the web client that ships with Plex Server - spinning circle of death.

Thank you for the information. Is there a workaround ? Is it possible to have Multi-line PCM ?

We’ve started rolling out a fix for the video playback issue, thanks for the report and logs!

@SamFromPlex, what’s the version number that will appear in the Play Store? Also, will this release incorporate a fix for the passthrough crashing the app problem?

No. It’s a fix for a crash that could happen on any device. I’m not sure what the status is on passthrough issues.

Can you look into that and let us know? I haven’t been active on the forums in a long time so I’m not plugged in on the current status of things. Thanks!
