Hello,
I am seeing that the Plex for iOS version includes changes also for Apple TV. But the Apple TV version I can install is more than one year old. Am I missing something? Why I cannot install the latest 2026 version also to my Apple TV?
Apple is currently developing the „new experience“ app for the Apple TV. That version is currently only available as a separate TestFlight preview (not the regular beta program). Despite Plex removing inactive testers, the preview is usually full or hard to get into.
Somehow Plex have merged the release notes of the iOS/Android beta with that of the Apple TV preview. Hence we’re seeing some of the stuff they’re preparing for the next preview release before it’s made available as a preview release (preview on tvOS is still on version 2025.30.0). I guess there’ll be a new preview release soon as the previous one is about to expire.
I havent tried the new app on appletv, i have seen It on iphone. Why do everyone think that the new app is bad? im still on the old one and was hoping for something better. I have locked my appletv on 18 fw just in case also. Are Infuse the way to go?, or Jellyfin+Infuse.
Until 2026.2.0 pushed to beta/testflight relatively recently, EAC3 was broken and would not playback, a very common audio codec. A year of broken playback wears on people. It does seem to finally be pretty good.
