Plex for Google TV not requiring PIN when you open app again after exiting

Issue: PIN not being required when re-opening Plex after closing app by pressing Back all the way to Home screen

Affected platform: Google TV and likely Android TV as well. I’ve tested on my Tizen TV and my Android phone and tablet and this issue does not exist currently.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Plex, choose a profile that requires a PIN
  2. On the remote, press Back button until Home screen is reached
  3. Open Plex again. You will be seeing the same profile as you last left it but without having to enter a PIN

Expected behavior:

  1. When pressing Back at the Plex home screen, Plex should fully close application
  2. When re-opening Plex after being placed in the background (e.g. user pressed Home button or a shortcut button to another app), Plex should request for a PIN if the last-used profile requires one

Current workaround #1:

  1. Go to Settings | Apps
  2. Select Plex and choose Force Stop

Do you have the option enabled to automatically sign in? That bypasses the pin except when changing users.

Same issue on Amazon Fire Cube (2nd & 3rd Gen), Amazon Fire Stick as well. No auto sign-in, etc… settings are selected. I have already checked all the basic areas that would cause this. Cache & Data cleared, Apps uninstalled and reinstalled. Plex Server Stopped and Restarted, Powered off & on devices, all updates installed… It was working perfectly until the Plex Data Breach and changing of my password. I’ve reclaimed the server, and all appears well, except the Home Pin issue where Plex does not lock the application after switching from Plex to other apps and then back to Plex. Plex goes right back into the app without requesting a Pin.

Anyone have a fix for this issue? Anybody out there that can help. This all was working fine until the requested password change from Plex due to data breach and once logged out of all devices and reclaimed my server, this little bug cropped up on the Amazon Fire devices. Switching back and forth from any streaming app over to Plex and my PIN is not being requested, and I want it to me to keep other home users out of my admin account. Plex support… anyone there???
