for me, the app plays great in Kodi with no issues, can skip through a movie without any buffering, it just works great, I do have a plexpass but this app should be available for all, no point hiding your light under a bushel.
PlexKodiConnect does a really good job but the only reason I would want the official Kodi addon is to get access to the extras for the movies. I can’t do that with PKC. I can still cast it through Kodi with the android app, but would be nice for the kids to be able to select it if they want to. Hopefully, it will soon be officially released to all!

that sucks
Plex is commercial software & they need to pay their developers. It’s not some Open Source amateur project created by a handful of enthusiasts (like Kodi). It’s right & proper to charge for extra functionality especially considering what is available for free.
Sure. That’s why the Plex for Android is such a mess on Android TVs, not able to simply pass through audio for many models, as countless threads in this forum suggest.
I had to install the “amateur” Kodi to do the heavy work AND subscribe to Plex Pass so I could use Plex as a plugin for Kodi and have my files play as intended.
I’m literally paying for Plex so it can pigback on Kodi’s work to do its job.
i for one am just grateful that Plex Inc had the foresight to commission it in the first place, they could have chosen to not tread there toe in that water and left it to 3rd parties. i use Plex for Kodi everyday, and even though i am a Plex Pass lifetime member i would still have gladly paid £4.99 for the app.

I imagne that Plex like to get some payback for their development dollars.
Any update on a time frame? I would gladly play a one time fee for the App as I have with other Apps I find useful, but I will not subscribe when I don’t need plexpass for anything else. Using an unofficial app has its own issues. Besides the reason of beta testing for plexpass users only limits the testing whereas opening it up would give a broader test user base.
I’m so confused…
