Plex for LG App provided "random" account name

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685-70009685
Player Version#: 5.91.0 (Plex for LG)
I have been running PMS for well over 10 years very happily using a Roku “box” with the Plex app installed. Worked just fine all this time.
Recently moved and decided to ditch all the “old stuff” and use the Plex client that was available on my new LG Smart TV.
I managed to connect to my PMS and watch all my media just fine. However, when setting up the Plex for LG client app, it created the username “kwhm8”. I can’t seem to be able to change it.
What is this user name for? Why isn’t the client using my PMS username?

Where do you see that user name?
Is it just how the Plex app on the LG displays your own user name or is that actually a new account showing up on your server?

When you first sign in, your picture or icon is in the upper left corner. I have a red circle with a white “K” in the middle. If I click on that it takes me to a user profile page.

@dcsmith2000

Are you on a shared network, such as in some apartments, condos, etc.?

When using the kwhm8 account on the TV, does it see media from your server or from a different server?

Wondering if the TV might have picked up a nearby Plex server that allows unauthorized access.

Login to your Plex account using a desktop/laptop: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/web/general. Check your Plex Home and Shared Library Access. Is kwhm8 listed in either location?

In the Plex LG app, choose Sign Out, then sign back in to your account. Are you signed in as your account or as kwhm8? If the latter, choose Switch User. Can you switch to your account?

Signing out and trying to sign in gave me the screen attached.
This time I used the QR Code and SIGNED IN rather than creating a new account. Now the account is linked. Not very obvious, but it’s working now.
