Plex for Mac and Apple TV stutter while Plex Web and Infuse play fine

I’m running Plex Media Server on an M1 Mac Mini on a gigabit network. All devices are plugged in via ethernet. The Plex app on the Apple TV 4k (1st gen) lags and gives me an error that my server is not fast enough to keep up. The Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) plays fine. Using Infuse on any Apple TV works fine.

Plex for Mac cannot play some .mp4 videos without stuttering so badly it’s unwatchable. Yet, using Plex in Safari or other browser on the same machine plays fine. Using Infuse on that same Mac plays just fine.

I’m quite sure my network is fast enough and server is powerful enough to handle streaming these videos. I have no idea where to look as most of my settings are set to the default. I’ve tried reducing the quality in the different Plex apps but that doesn’t help.

I have the Transcoding options set to automatic. I’m wondering if it’s is only certain files because other files seem to play fine. They are all .mp4 files so I’m not sure what the issue is and I have no idea where to look.

I was told about Infuse a few years back and instantly tried it and got a Lifetime pro Licence. Although I am a Plex Pass user I never use Plex any more. Infuse is the best video playing app full stop as long as you are willing to stay Apple only. In fact, its probably the best Apple TV / IOS app period. It can play 100GB 4k files without any issues and without needing a server. My home is wired and big files simply will not play on Plex and that’s with a 12 core Mac with fast Ethernet.
