Plex for PS3

I have an old PS3 is one of my rooms which I’d been using to access Plex but am no longer able as can’t download update.

I get error “sorry there seems to be a problem connecting, please try again later”. I know an update is required for Plex as has to do it on the PS4’s in house.

I understand PlayStation were going to close the PS3 store but reversed their decision so I’m unsure why I can’t get update. I’ve tried deleting & re-installing app but it’s obviously still old version which is downloading as still getting same error.

Short of upgrading to a PS4 or 5, does anyone know a way to work around this?

Thanks

It is my understanding PS3 is now deprecated to the point of not working.

PS3 Media Player will be the way to go about it. Should look into enabling the DNLA server and IP address authorization settings in the Network tab for offline access for local files. It is a good thing that the PS3 is capable of searching media servers now that the app itself has been rendered useless. I thought it was an exaggeration when they said it was future-proof, but I was glad that I was able to make it work. Hopefully, you can too

I had issues with this depending on the file format. If it was an MKV video that isn’t played by the PS3 I had issues with the plex with DLNA turned on as a server fitzing out randomly with the sound going static-y and super loud, and not being able to fast forward the video to get back where it was after resetting to fix it…

I didn’t try it with any other DLNA server hosts to see if they were more reliable. I ended up getting my hands on a PS5 so I’m using my old PS4 as a player on the TV that was affected.
