Regarding the PS4 app, is anyone else having issues with it using a lot of cpu? I have been using my laptop which has not been an issue with my smart tv and Roku, but the PS4 app seems to really be a hog.

You mean cpu on the server? I haven't noticed. The PS3/PS4 menus are sluggish at times but I attribute that to it being the first release. Even the Roku client got MUCH faster after a while.... and the Roku hardware is a drop in the bucket vs the PS3/PS4.
Yes i do mean the server cpu, in my case, my laptop and you're correct that the Roku has gotten much faster in the last six months or so. I wanted to make sure that it was an issue that others are having but I do want to build a dedicated Plex server eventually.

LOL. So you setup a plex server in anticipation of just the ps4 app (which was a surprise in the first place)? Then you complain that the first release of a beta product is not up to your standards and doesn't have the features that you want yet? Sorry, but you're doing it wrong.
It doesn't say "Beta" anywhere in the app description. In fact, it's a featured app on the PSN Store.
The app is horrible. Half the time it can't even rewind my videos, the controls are unintuititve (why does pressing a trigger rewind/fast forward by ten minutes? Why isn't it a normal rewind/fast forward like every other video app?), AND it constantly crashes. Worst app I've ever paid for on any platform.

From what I've understood over the years, any client that is "plex pass only" is to be considered a beta until it's offered to the public for a price without subscription. You didn't pay for the app.... the app is free. What you paid for was the right to get certain features and early access to brand new (beta) apps.
Also, It's not a "normal rewind fast forward" because you're playing a transcoded streamed file. I'm sure they'd be all ears if you could provide the code to easily fast forward or rewind that. Plex is not a windows media player, it's not really meant for jumping around files.
Give them a chance to at least provide one update after launch before you write it off... or just wait until it's a paid app. Then you can get grumpy about any missing/broken features. ... or just get a Roku or HTPC or Raspberry Pi or any of the other more mature plex clients available. If you're looking for your PS4 to be an end-all multimedia appliance, then you're in for a lot of disappointment. Blame Sony for that one.

btw, has anyone been able to use a keyboard with the ps4 client? I bought a little insignia brand remote that works great in other apps, but not in plex. the PS4 sees it as a keyboard. my other bluetooth keyboard suffers the same issue.
edit: by the way, once this plex app matures, I will have no problem using the PS4 as my end-all multimedia appliance. it already does everything else I want it to. plex is the only gap it has been missing, and that gap is almost bridged!

I think that I'm also having the same issue as you are.... It looks like I'm defaulting to the remote access (Lower streaming settings) even though my PS4 is hooked up by Cat6 to my router with my server. I can't get my PS4 to play anything with out buffering. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
My PS4 It tells me it cant connect to my server. However, on my IPAD,Android I can connect. What can I do to fix this?

Yes, there will be updates. There are updates every now and then for the app, look in your update history on your PS4 to see them. The updates are not quite as frequent as they can be of apps that Plex Inc has total control over themselves. Each version needs to be controlled by Sony.
On the PS3 app i seem to get a weird issue where the selector box starts moving to the right on it's own eventually leading to the home selection. Quit and restart usually fixes for temporarily but it does happen sporadically. Is there any way to grab a log file and report it to Plex? Also in regards to it using remote settings check the settings in your server and check settings in ps app. I haven't really noticed buffering except for start up and one occassion when I was rebuilding my server and had changed the remote access and local access speeds. Would love to know how to grab log files though.
