Morning,
Any word on Plex for PS4 now that Xbox ONE has been released? PS4 right now owns the market for consoles in the US. Also, Sony has opened up their developer network to PS4 as well.
Thanks

I second this! Im tempt to buy an xbox now just for plex
It would help if Sony released an update to make the ps4 DLNA compatible, but right now Sony hasn't said anything about that.

While it'll be nice, I don't think this was the deciding factor. Plex for Xbox was probably easier to develop for as they already have an app for Windows 8 and Windows Phone. Both apps have the same core as the Xbox so porting the app probably did not take that much effort compared to making an app from the ground up for the PS4.
IF this is being worked on, it’ll be kept private until it’s ready for an official announcement just like how the Xbox announcement was handled today.

Exactly what Elan said yesterday. IRC seems to say it'll never happen, don't know why though.
Hi guys,
If you've got a Plex Pass and a PS4 app is something you'd like to see, vote for it over in the feature request forum here: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/123403-plex-app-for-ps4/?hl=ps4
Cheers!
It's already possible to use Plex on the PS4 but it is fairly cumbersome. A Plex app would be most welcome

It's probably because the PS4 has virtually no built in media features for some stupid reason, so it probably doesn't have all the codecs etc. available for anyone to use. The Xbox One on the other hand already has DLNA support as I understand it, so the port was probably much easier (although I'm sure it was no small task). Slightly jealous of Xbox One owners right now :P
Sony's 2.0 update is hopefully a tiny tiny step in the right direction however as they're adding mp3 support from external devices. Now all they need to do is do the same for videos.. then make it all streamable.. Bah.
Without doubt, this will be very helpful and I’ll be voting for it in the plex pass forum posted above
Thanks!
This would definitely be something welcomed by many.
I currently have a PS4 in my living room, as well as my Mac Mini (which runs PMS and Plex Home Theatre).
So I serve and watch movies from the same device. I use AppleTV remote to control Plex Home Theatre, and I have a scripts that makes Plex Home Theatre and PMS load on boot up, and I never turn it off so I can see get access to Plex from Roku in bedroom and when I am away from home....
However, I recently have gotten the itch to try out Mac as my primary computer, and realized I have one sitting in my living room simply playing/serving videos.
If they bring the Plex App to the PS4, I can move the Mac Mini to my office, keep PMS and all other server related task running in background, while I use my Mac as my primary PC.
It would make my wife happy that I chose to not throw down money on another Mac, when we have one that we essentially treat like a more powerful AppleTV rather than a Mac.
Since the 2.0 update on the ps4 plex is not working. the library pulls up but everytime you play a movie it says the was a problem playing this item. I have researched and posted and nobody can seem to find an answer. Can anybody help?
@Jorgie (you probably already know this)
I have a Mac mini running my PMS and it works great even though it is a fairly low level one. I was just going to say that I have an apple TV on my main Tv and while they can be jailbroken to put the plex app on them it is not as nice an interface as the full system. However if you have an iPod, iPhone or iPad you can use the plex app on them to access the movie selection and then tell the app to display it on the apple TV. Then you can pretty much turn off the iDevice. It does have the occasional drop out and can be a bit temperamental at times but for the most part it works well. The only real issue is once you put it to the apple TV you have to control the volume through the TV or stereo system.
Just thought that might free up your mini (if you haven't already) and if you already have one of those devices it may not even cost you any money. One added bonus is you can use the iDevice any where to watch a movie if someone else is hogging the TV.
Check out the blog post for today, it is indeed real.
Hi,
I recently purchased the PS4 and when I went onto Plex app, it gave me a 4 digit PIN. I created an account (on my laptop) and enter the pin in my settings and clicked updated, yet the app didnt update. It just showed the pin and then after a while it says it had expired.
So I shut down the PS and went back into the app and it just showed a new pin. I updated this time using the brower on the PS and then went back into the app and it just showed the same pin
Can anyone please assist me?
Thanks
You enter the pin at https://plex.tv/pin. You need to have a plex.tv account set up (which is sounds like you do). When you enter the pin it should load your server and show your library.
Your server needs to be connected to the plex.tv servers. Check in the settings on your server at Settings -> Server -> Connect, you should have 2 green check marks. If you don't, the playstation app will not connect or find your server.
Another thing is that you do not appear to have plex pass (at least on your forum account), this is required and the application will not connect without it. If you do have plex pass, then you should post in the correct forums if you continue to have problems: [Plex for PlayStation forum](https://forums.plex.tv/forum/153-plex-for-playstation/)
I just cancelled my plex pass because I only wanted PS4 app. It's very poor though and not worth paying for. You can't connect to local server but via cloud thing (I assume this is just the method to ensure you use a Plex plus account and actually directs to local server after connection) but the app doesn't even support music. At least finish a product before releasing it, even in a beta. It's like releasing a prototype car with 3 wheels.
They have been very clear that this is a Plexpass release only. Meaning an early release for valued customers. It is very much a beta, and only contains video playback for now. When the app is ready for normal customers they will very likely sell it for a fixed sum in the PSN store.I just cancelled my plex pass because I only wanted PS4 app. It's very poor though and not worth paying for. LOL. So you setup a plex server in anticipation of just the ps4 app (which was a surprise in the first place)? Then you complain that the first release of a beta product is not up to your standards and doesn't have the features that you want yet? Sorry, but you're doing it wrong.
