Plex for Roku v6.7.3 Crashing

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3711
Player Version#: Roku v6.7.3
Roku updated plex in the past 30 minutes. After navigating to the home screen Plex Crashes on Roku.

I have removed the channel and re-installed with the same issue.

Device is: Roku Streaming Stick+

Sorry to hear it’s crashing, let’s see if we can get this fixed. Sometimes removing the channel doesn’t remove the issue if it’s related to a setting, as they can be preserved when uninstalled and re-installed on the Roku without rebooting. Could you try removing ALL plex channels, rebooting, then reinstalling?

If you could also send your Roku serial number through a DM I’ll be able to ask Roku for a crash report to identify the area crashing.

Same issue here started this evening. All of my Rokus crash on Plex - 2 Roku Ultras and one older model. All running Roku channel version 6.7.3, Plex server 1.21.0.3711-b509cc236.

Same issue here

Interestingly, it only seems to happen on the primary account. If I use the other home accounts on the Roku, most things work that I tried.

Fully updated plex media server from the plexinc dockers.
Fully updated roku streaming stick+ 4K.

We are investigating this. Early investigation is indicating having an older server on the network could cause a crash. The minimum server was raised to 1.18.3, and we should show an indication in the channel that the server needs upgrading, but we may be crashing if the server is older than 1.13.9. Can anyone check to see if they have any servers older than 1.13.9 on their network and either upgrade those or turn them off if they are unused. Please let us know if this fixes the issue.

I can confirm that in my case this crash was caused by an very old Plex Server on the network. I was doing some work on an old Synology NAS that had been powered down for well over a year. Although I was making no effort to actually use the installed Plex Server on this Synology, it was causing my Plex Client on Roku to crash very soon after loading it up.

After reading this post, I upgraded the Plex Server on that device to the current version and the crashes immediately stopped.

Can confirm. I had an older PMS version 1.12 running on my NAS that was not my main server, but still on my network. When I removed it the crashes stopped.

Same here: I had an old computer running that I don’t use for Plex any longer. It was running version 1.12.2.4929. I updated and now everything works.

Thank you for your prompt responses.

We have released version 6.7.4 that should correct the issue with old servers crashing the channel. It’s still best to update or remove those servers. The channel will auto-update in 36 hours, or you can update now by checking for an update on the Roku: Settings -> System -> System Update -> Check now
