Server Version#:1.29.1.6276 (PlexPass Docker)
Player Version#:1.55.0.3278-c6164b3c (Plex for Windows)
The player simply stops playing, with no loading icon or pause button, the UI looks like the video is still playing but there is no audio and I merely get the single frame of video that was displayed when the playback stopped and the progress bar doesn’t move.
Ending playback and trying to start again doesn’t work. Instead, I get stuck with a mini version of the frozen frame in the corner. If I press F5 I see the same single frame from the video behind the plex logo and playback will not begin on any video or music.
The only way to get the application working again is to close it and reopen it.
Attached are the log lines that occur when the playback freezes. these errors repeat until the app is closed (I have redacted the server name as it includes my real name). PlexLog.log (5.4 KB)
EDIT: I’ve now tried uninstalling Plex and deleting the app data folder. The issue persists. It seems to be related to Hardware Decoding since it started when I changed GPU and has stopped happening now that I have disabled Hardware Decoding. What additional logs can I provide that might shine some light on what is happening here?
Nope. Even without the GeForce Experience installed, you can pick app-specific preferences.
Just open the nVidia Control Panel which is available either as a task tray icon or with a right click on the desktop background.
Then to “3D Settings”
Anything on the “Global Settings” tab should be set back to default.
If you have to make a change here, always switch to the other tab (“App Settings”, I think), which allows you to select the app for which the override shall be valid.
If there is an app or game missing in the list, you can easily add it.
